Sony Playstation 2 (PS2) – Noteworthy Titles

The following are noteworthy Playstation 2 games that aren’t currently available as digital downloads on PSN for use with a PS3 or PS4 console, and don’t have an HD re-release. Physical Playstation 2 games are compatible with early PS3 models, with the earliest models (CECHA and CECHB) having almost 100% compatiblity, later models (CECHC and CECHE) having about 85% compatibility, and subsequent models including all slim and super-slim models having no compatibility with physical PS2 games at all; they can only play the downloadable PS2 classics (their physical disc equivalents will not run, only the download will). Note that physical versions of games are always region-locked, while downloadable PS2 classics will run on any PS3, but if you’re not using HDMI, your PS3 and TV will have to support the game’s native signal standard (NTSC or PAL).
